In the Star Trek Universe, the Lohlunat Festival originated on the planet Risa and was also known as the 'Festival of the Moons".  It was held at the Summer Resort at Suraya Bay, an annual summer event during which Risians celebrated their culture's welcoming diversity.  On Risa visitors participate in numerous activities where they can earn Lohlunat favors and lohlunat pearls which can then be traded for prizes.  Some of the activities included flying lessons with a jet-pack, creating sand sculptures and a Horga'hn hunt.

Here at Star Base Columbus we've adapted the idea of the Lohlunat Festival for Terrans.  We will host a Multi-Cultural Celebration of the Moons, meaning any and all moons, real or fictional and the importance of our own Moon among the cultures of Earth.  Our Lunar Street Fair will include games, trivia contests, a Tiki Scavenger Hunt, a Retro Video Game Arcade, Moon Themed Videos and many other activities where participants can be awarded Lohlunat beads and coins that can be traded in for door prizes, Star Base Gift Certificates and other fun stuff!

We will celebrate the significance of the Moon among the many cultures of Earth and celebrate our planet's diversity, learn about other moons in our solar system, as well as the manned moon landings of the Apollo Missions.

There will be great food, a retro video game arcade, informative displays and presentations,  moon themed videos and more!

ALL ARE INVITED TO COME AND JOIN THE FUN!

Attire:  Tropical print or outer space themed shirts.

This will be our most unusual event of the year!

Greetings Earthlings...from the planet Pluto!

Greetings from the (dwarf) planet Pluto!  It's amazing that we are the first humans in history to ever see this alien world. It's a great tribute to advances in our technology and thirst for exploration.  It also brings us one step closer to exploring new worlds, seeking out new life and civilizations and boldly going where no one has gone before!  It may take us a while longer to find the new life and civilizations but having a chance to explore a strange new world is definitely a thrill for NASA and the astronomy community at large.  This is an exciting day!
